Jeff has been a Non-Executive Director with EMAS since 1 September 2022, and took up the role as Chair on 1 August 2024.

He started in the NHS in 1984 working with the District Medical Officer at Rotherham Health Authority, before moving to Derbyshire to work for the then Family Practitioner Committee. He has worked in the Midlands ever since.

He was the Chief Executive North Nottinghamshire Health Authority from 1997 and briefly for Southern Derbyshire Health Authority, before taking up the post of Chief Executive of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust from 2001. Jeff remained there until 2010 and saw it through becoming a foundation trust and the complete rebuild of King’s Mill Hospital.

Jeff has also been the Chief Operating Officer for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and worked in performance management for the NHS Trust Development Authority.

He spent his last years of employment at NHS England and led the response to the pandemic in the Midlands before retiring in March 2022.

Jeff is also a Non-Executive Director for the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
