One hundred poppies will be displayed on A&E, Urgent, and Patient Transport vehicles in support of the Centenary Poppy Appeal.
This November marks 100 years since the end of the First World War, with a huge number of special centenary events taking place across the country.
Our Fleet Service have arranged for a poppy to be placed next to the East Midlands Ambulance text above the cab on 100 ambulances across the region, to show our support for The Poppy Appeal.
These poppies will appear on our ambulances over the next week and will remain until the end of November.
The First World War saw more than a million British and Empire Forces soldiers killed. A further 1.25 million people we injured, and many disabled for life.
The poppy was adopted as a symbol of remembrance thanks to the poem In Flanders Fields. In 1921, the first Poppy Appeal was held to help soldiers and their families whose lives had been changed by the war. As part of this, nine million silk poppies were sold, and the equivalent of £30 million was raised for the newly formed Royal British Legion.
This year, we are making a donation to The Poppy Appeal to pay for the poppy stickers. All funds will go to The Royal British Legion which still provides lifelong support for the Armed Forces community - serving men and women, veterans, and their families.
Poppies will be sold across the country until Remembrance Day on Sunday, 11 November.
