The ongoing adverse weather across the East Midlands means that our Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (PTS) in Derbyshire and Northamptonshire will only be able to undertake journeys for patients who have life-saving appointments, such as for chemotherapy, radiotherapy and renal treatments.

Patients being discharged will still receive transport where it is safe to do so, but each patient will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

All other patients will not receive their transport today or over the weekend due to the challenging road conditions, so that we can focus on getting to those patients who need us the most.

Joy Weldin, Head of Patient Transport Services at East Midlands Ambulance Service said:

“Our top priority remains the safety of all our patients, staff and other road users during this challenging time.

“We have plans in place and are working with our partner agencies to continue providing crucial services to patients who need us.

“We do ask that any patients who no longer wish to travel due to the weather conditions let us know as soon as possible. This will allow us to cancel your journey and ensure our vehicles and crews can attend another patient needing transport.”

Please carefully consider if you require a journey with PTS today or over the weekend and whether alternative arrangements can be made to ensure you can attend your scheduled appointment as planned.

The PTS booking line can be utilised for enquiries on 0300 300 3434.
