Three ambulance crew members have been presented with awards by Derbyshire Police for working tirelessly to try to save the life of a vulnerable patient.

Matt Moore, Ross Wormall and Daniel Hallam were invited to Pride Park Stadium in Derby where they were each presented with a Chief Constable’s Commendation for their work at an incident in August last year.

The incident in Alfreton involved a vulnerable young person who had suffered a serious medical emergency, and the crew worked closely with the officers from Derbyshire Constabulary to try to save her life.

All police officers and the ambulance crew involved in the incident were presented with awards to celebrate their tireless efforts and seamless inter-service work.

Matt Moore, 32, an EMAS paramedic at the time of the incident and who now works for Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance as an air ambulance paramedic, said that he was surprised but honoured to receive the award along with his crewmates.

He said: “We all worked together so well to do our very best for the patient.

“The police officers who had arrived before us were already treating the patient and I was so impressed by how calm they all were – it was exactly how I would want to see an experienced ambulance crew acting.

“We joined the officers and we worked closely together to give the patient the best treatment possible.

“I was gobsmacked that they had nominated us for a Chief Constable’s Commendation, and it was surreal receiving the award.

“It was a really proud moment for us all.”

The citation on the awards reads: “You are commended for your efforts in working together in a professional and committed manner to ensure all was being done to help a vulnerable person and providing continuing care, never giving up hope on the young woman and trying to save her life.”
