We have become the 100th member to join the ECO Stars Fleet Recognition scheme, with our fleet receiving a four-star rating.

Yesterday, Alan West from ECO Stars and Councillor David Ellis from Gedling Borough Council came to our Fleet Services in Alfreton to meet the some of the team and to present us with the ECO Stars certificate.

The ECO Stars Fleet Recognition scheme is a free service that encourages and supports operators of HGVs, vans, buses and coaches to run their fleets more efficiently.

ECO Stars experts assess each fleet, award a star rating based on current performance and produce a ‘roadmap’ of recommendations which helps operators to reduce vehicle emissions while also reducing operating costs.

Membership is free to all fleet operators, irrespective of the size of their operation.

Steve Farnsworth, Fleet General Manager said: “We are delighted to be the 100th member in Nottinghamshire and achieve a 4 star ECO Stars rating.

“We work hard to ensure that our ambulance fleet is fuel efficient and has minimal impact on the environment, and we are constantly seeking to improve performance in all areas.”

ECO Stars Field Consultant Alan West said “EMAS have been very successful and have achieved a well-deserved grade of 4 Stars on initial assessment.  EMAS have been equipped with the right tools and resources to build upon their current achievements.

The appointment of a Fuel Champion is a key component to this.  More extensive use of telematics data, particularly on non-emergency journeys will result in even greater fuel savings.

We wish EMAS continued success”.
