Back in November 2020, we announced the plans for a new health hub development in Bakewell, which also included a new site for Bakewell Ambulance Station.

Fast forward two years, the plans are in full flow to create the new hub which will provide a base for a range of community health services serving Bakewell and the Derbyshire Dales.

The development will sit on the land around and on where the current Bakewell Ambulance Station resides and so at the end of April, staff from the station said their goodbyes before moving to new temporary accommodation at Newholme Hospital for 14 months while the new hub is built.

The new ambulance station will have a number of modern facilities for staff and the sharing of premises with other NHS staff will build on relationships and understanding of each other’s organisations and the work we do to support our communities.

Work to transform the site begins in June and is a partnership between Derbyshire Community Health Services (DCHS) NHS Foundation Trust and EMAS. It is expected to be finished in summer 2023.
