The first of 68 brand-new Fast Response Vehicles (FRV) will be rolled out across all divisions in the coming weeks as part of a fleet replacement programme.
These new vehicles have a range of exciting new features including:
sirens that go to low volume when the handbrake is on
a new keypad configuration with the option to put on the reversing camera to see behind the vehicle at busy junctions as there is no rear-view mirror
a high specification of vehicle lighting and warning systems to improve visibility to other road users
The new Skoda Scout FRV vehicles all have a standardised interior and equipment layout based on colleague feedback, and all have automatic gearboxes.
Each FRV will also be supplied with a Mangar Elk lifting cushion and compressor to help prevent the need for an additional double crewed ambulance where possible.
The new standardised layout has been carefully thought through, and includes specific storage spaces for all equipment required by the ambulance staff member.
