A charity event held in memory of a Clifton man whose life was saved by paramedics in 1991 will help raise money for the EMAS Charitable Funds.

Eric Fox, aged 62 at the time, collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest in 1991, but the Nottinghamshire ambulance crew who attended managed to save his life and he went on to make a full recovery.

Thanks to our crew, Eric was able to live another 27 years and spend time with his two grandchildren and meet his three great-granddaughters.

Sadly, at the age of 89, Eric passed away last year. His daughter, Julie, is hosting an event in his memory at a local church next week to raise money for EMAS Charitable Funds.

Julie said: “I remember the day he had his cardiac arrest so clearly. He was looking after my children and I got a phone call from his neighbour to say he wasn’t well.

"The doctor came out and called an ambulance, and they put him in the ambulance outside the house. I was looking from the upstairs window, and I thought ‘Why isn’t the ambulance moving?’

"I soon found out he had gone into cardiac arrest in the back of the ambulance and they had used the defibrillator on him.

"The ambulance crew were really good to me too on the day, they saved his life and gave us another 27 years with him so I wanted this month’s coffee morning to be in aid of EMAS.”

The coffee morning will take place from 10.30am until 12.30pm on Saturday, 19 January at Bulwell United Reformed Church in Broomhill Road, Nottingham.

There will be refreshments, cakes and toasted tea cakes, there will also be stalls selling good quality bric a brac, toys DVDs and books.  There will also be ‘win a prize every time’ tombola type stalls with some great prizes.
