An annual football match organised by two members of EMAS staff has raised more than £3,000 – the biggest total yet.
Adam Broadley, 35, a co-ordinator for Patient Transport Services (PTS) and Rebecca West, a patient care assistant for the PTS based in Heanor, organised the third annual Peter West Memorial Trophy football match.
The match between the Butlins Allstars and The Rest of the World took place at Eastwood Community Football Club, and saw The Rest of the World win 4-1.
Thanks to the generosity of those who attended the Peter West Memorial Trophy football match, £3,311 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Care.
This means that over the last 10 years they have been raising money, the team of friends have raised £11,650 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Adam said: “Thank you so much to everyone who came along to support us and cheer us on.
“We hope all the money that has been raised will help to make life just a little bit easier for patients currently battling cancer and their families.”
Peter West was Rebecca’s father in law, and her husband John is Adam’s best friend.
Sadly, Peter West died from lymphoma four years ago, and John also lost his mother when he was 19. Peter spent much of his later life raising money for Macmillan Cancer Care through raffles and auctions and so his son has continued raising funds for the charity.
