An Information Management and Technology (IM&T) team colleague is taking on one of the biggest hiking challenges later this spring in the name of charity.

Dennis Keen, IM&T Technical Support Analyst, plans to attempt the National Three Peaks Challenge on Tuesday 24 May 2022, and hopes to raise £500 to support The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC) and the Dog’s Trust.

The challenge involves attempting to climb the three largest mountains in Scotland, Wales and England within 24 hours. These peaks include Ben Nevis in Scotland (1,344m), Scafell Pike in England (978m) and Snowdon in Wales (1,085m).

This means 37km of hiking, 743km of driving and an overall ascent of 3,400m – all in one day.

Incredibly Dennis has already raised more than £400 and so is asking colleagues to donate if they can to help him reach the target in time for the challenge.

Dennis said: "Last year I hit a milestone birthday and so as well as making some lifestyle changes to improve my health, I set myself a personal goal to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge and I decided to do it for two charities close to my heart.

"TASC provide vital help to our green family – we all need help at times and it's there for the ambulance community in their time of need – and the Dog’s Trust.

"My dogs – Molby and Paisley – are my best friends. They’re always happy to see me and it constantly surprises me how excited they can get about going for a walk that they've done hundreds of times before. They won’t be joining me on the challenge in May, although I’m sure Paisley would have given it a good go."
