We are pleased to announce Stuart Poynor as our new Director of Finance at East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS).
Stuart was formerly at Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) in the role of Director of Finance and started his career in the NHS 40 years ago in Leicestershire, where he undertook a number of finance roles.
In 2002, Stuart moved to Staffordshire to undertake board level positions in commissioning and provider organisations. Together, commissioning and provider organisations ensure healthcare is accessible, high-quality, and responsive to the populations’ needs.
Stuart said: “I have a strong track record and background in financial and chief executive leadership roles, which will enable me to bring together a range of perspectives to help EMAS achieve its ambitions.
“I’ve worked in NHS acute, mental health and community services. Added together with my time at the ICB this has given me a good understanding of the emergency and urgent care sector.
“I’m thrilled that my new role is back in a provider organisation like EMAS, as I enjoy meeting and working with colleagues who are providing services directly to patients.
“I am excited to be joining EMAS and I am looking forward to being part of the further development of the culture in the organisation.”
As part of his new role, Stuart will continue to work with our local healthcare systems to make sure that the maximum number of resources are made available to help us to deliver our services to patients.
The role is far reaching encompassing Finance, Procurement, Contracting, Sustainability, Estates, Fleet and Logistics, and Security Management to mention just a few of the key responsibilities.
Richard Henderson, Chief Executive at EMAS said: “Alongside colleagues across the organisation, I’m pleased to welcome Stuart Poynor to EMAS.
“I also want to express my gratitude to Stuart’s predecessor, Mike Naylor, for his dedication and impactful work over the past seven years.
“His efforts were instrumental in securing additional finance and resources to enhance our services during his time with us – which has included supporting to grow our frontline workforce and investing in our life-saving equipment and vehicles.”
As we give a warm welcome to Stuart Poynor, we bid a fond farewell to Mike Naylor, who will retire later in 2024.
