East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust has recently been involved in contract negotiations for the provision of the Northamptonshire Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS).

Will Legge, EMAS Director of Strategy and Transformation said:

“Northamptonshire Clinical Commissioning Groups have concluded contract conversations, and EMAS has been confirmed as the preferred provider of patient transport services for Northamptonshire. We will be working on a step in basis for the remaining duration of the contract (2022) whilst the commissioner reviews future options regarding the service.

“This news, together with the announcement in August that we will be the new provider of NEPTS in Chesterfield, is credit to all of our Derbyshire PTS colleagues who have worked hard to provide a good, quality service to patients since EMAS was awarded the Derbyshire contract in 2016, and I thank them and our PTS volunteers for their ongoing contributions and commitment.”

Commissioners will be working closely with EMAS, Thames Ambulance Service (the current provider of PTS in Northamptonshire), and key stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition of services for both patients and staff.

The anticipated go live date for the new service is 1 December 2019.
