Former Mayor of Broxtowe, Derek Burnett BEM, visited our headquarters last week to present Mel Wright, Community First Response (CFR) Operations Manager with a cheque for the CFR Charitable Funds.

During his time in office, Derek has managed to raise an EMAZING £3,695 after choosing EMAS CFRs as one of the charities he would like to support for the year.

The volunteer service is close to Derek’s heart as he has been a Level 3 Responder for the Nuthall and District CFRs since 2012 and is co-ordinator for the scheme.

The money raised will go towards life-saving equipment for the CFRs, such as defibrillators, oxygen tanks and bandages.

Mel Wright said:

“We are so grateful for this donation to our charitable funds. Responders give up their time voluntarily and the schemes rely heavily on fundraising donations to purchase additional equipment and uniforms.

“A little goes a long way to support our incredible volunteers who respond to life threatening incidents, and this donation will help us with this.”
