A paramedic from Kingsmill Ambulance Station has been presented with an ‘inspirational tutor’ award after being nominated by a student.

Jamie Dowsing was presented with the Inspirational Practice Educator of the Year award by Sheffield Hallam University.

Jamie was nominated for the award by his student Jack Lockley.

Jack said: "Since starting placement, Jamie has made me feel not only part of the team, but also part of the profession.

"He has supported my development no end by not only guiding me to learn new skills, but also by developing my current ones.

"With every patient he is extremely thorough in order to give them the best possible care as well as allowing them to be involved in their own treatment and listening to what they wish to do (where possible).

"I don't think I could have had a better practice educator who fits not only my style of learning, but also fits my expectations of what a paramedic should be."

Jamie, who was surprised and overwhelmed to have won the award, said: "I am really pleased to be Jack’s Practice Educator. He is a keen and engaged student and it’s my pleasure to be able help him develop as a paramedic."

Sheffield Hallam University presented Jamie with a £50 book token from Class Publishing to thank him for his dedication to mentoring.
