One of our paramedics stationed in Lincolnshire has received an award from BBC Radio Lincolnshire for making a difference in his local community.
Roger Linnell was nominated in the Uniform Hero category.
He said: “It was a bit of a shock to receive it [the award] this afternoon.
“It’s very humbling and we don’t do the job for any recognition.”
Roger has worked in the emergency services for 32 years. He started his career in Patient Transport Services in West Bridgford in Nottinghamshire back in 1988 before going in to become a paramedic in 1994.
In 1996 Roger became a team leader at Wilford Ambulance Station, also in Nottinghamshire.
He has also worked for Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, and currently works part time for the Repatriation Service Flight Medic UK.
He said: “I go all over the world taking patients back home to the UK which is a very tremendous job and something I find very enjoyable.”
