EMAS Regional Operations Manager Melanie Wright recently completed the Great North Run in 1 hour 53 minutes; just 18 weeks after giving birth to twins Jessica and Sophie.

Melanie prepared for the half marathon by swimming and walking during her pregnancy, and then two months after the birth of the twins she started attending fitness classes and running. She also completed the Run530 event when the twins were seven weeks old, which involved a 5km run around Nottingham pushing a double pushchair at 05.30 hours.

After the half marathon Melanie said: “I want to set a good example to my girls about living a healthy, active lifestyle. You can do anything if you believe in yourself and work hard."
