One of our care assistants in Patient Transport Services has been nominated for a Pride of Derby award for going 'above and beyond' when caring for our patients.
Mark Tremane, an Advanced Care Assistant with our Patient Transport Services (PTS), was put forward for the award by nurses in the discharge lounge at Royal Derby Hospital for his hard work.
Chris Hill, a former PTS care assistant was also nominated for the award but has moved on to pastures new.
The Pride of Derby Awards are organised by Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and celebrate the inspirational work of staff members and the value they add by providing greater patient care.
The person who nominated Mark and Chris said: "No matter what the job, Mark will always transport patients in a caring, professional manner. No job is too big and he will always go above and beyond to get the patient home."
Mark, 43, who has worked in patient transport for four years, said it was an honour to be recognised for his work.
He said: "It's nice that someone has recognised that I've done my job well, and to me it means I've made a difference to someone's life.
"I like being able to look after patients and make them comfortable on their journeys, and patients appreciate that."
Our PTS provides non-emergency transport for patients in Derbyshire who need medical or clinical support to get to and from their healthcare appointments.
Andy Hall, Mark's team supervisor, presented the certificate to him at Mickleover Ambulance Station.
Andy said: "It's great to see that Mark has been nominated, as he works very hard and makes sure the patients get wherever they need to be."
