A dedicated member of our Patient Transport Services (PTS) ambulance crews has been presented with an award for going above and beyond in the line of duty.

Claire Brown, a PTS Ambulance Care Assistant based in Ashbourne, was nominated for the award after she found a patient’s burglar alarm ringing when she took her home from an appointment and checked the house for intruders.

To thank her for her brave actions, Claire was presented with a Chief Executive’s Commendation and a large bunch of flowers.

In her nomination, the patient also praised Claire for continuing to provide excellent care when taking her to her appointments.

The nomination read: “You are always polite and when you dropped the patient home, her burglar alarm was a great concern.

“You ensured that there was no intruder in the property, and that the patient was in her home safe and sound before departing.”

Chief Executive’s Commendations recognise ‘outstanding’ care provided by EMAS staff.
