Nigel Standen from Allestree in Derby has been sent to prison after abusing our ambulance staff and pleading guilty to six other offences.

Standen carried out a motiveless campaign of hate against innocent NHS workers, violently intimidated neighbours and attacked police officers.

He harassed our staff time after time and even hurled homophobic abuse towards a paramedic.

Mark Ward, Local Security Management Specialist for EMAS, said: “The outcome of this case is a result of a huge amount of work by our EMAS security team and our frequent caller team, so we are pleased Standen has been sentenced by the courts.

“We will continue to have a zero tolerance policy towards anyone who assaults our ambulance crews, whether that is physical, verbal, sexual or racial. It’s not acceptable.”
