Congratulations are in order for one of our Community First Responders based in Rutland who has been awarded an MBE in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Barbara Crellin, CFR Coordinator for the Rutland CFR Scheme was named in the honours ‘For Service to the Community in Rutland’ with her role as a CFR for the last seven years forming part of the long list of community projects she is involved in.
Barbara is also involved in many other community groups including being President of Leicestershire Rugby Union, Chair of Active Rutland Sports Alliance and Chair of Rutland Athletic Club to name a but a few. Barbara also helps organise CPR and AED training within Rutland and is a member of the local Patient Participation Group at her Surgery.
Barbara said “I was totally surprised when the letter dropped through the door. I was speechless for a while and have really struggled to keep it secret for the last 6 weeks, as you know, I like talking”.
She went on to say “I am particularly proud as it is in such a special year”.
When she finds time for her “four children and eight grandchildren and a husband of course” is difficult to know.
Many congratulations Barbara from all at EMAS.
