A vacancy has opened on our Trust Board for a Non-Executive Director who will help shape the future of the service.
Together with NHS Improvement, we are looking for someone with a genuine commitment to patients to join our Trust Board which has overall corporate responsibility for the running of EMAS.
The main role of the Trust Board is to guide the strategic direction of the organisation, including planning for our current challenges and future priorities – ensuring that we can set and meet our objectives.
Vijay Sharma, who has been a Non-Executive Director at EMAS for three years, encouraged anyone who has a genuine interest in developing healthcare and the necessary skills to apply for the position.
She said: “The role is absorbing, genuinely interesting, engaging and challenging.
“You don’t have to know everything about the service and healthcare to do the job as things are changing all the time. You never stop learning in this role.
“Focusing on our patients and workforce presents interesting opportunities and challenges, and by working in collaboration with executive colleagues, it is possible to make a real difference.”
Vijay added that her particular interest lies in workforce matters and the opportunity to connect with frontline colleagues through the workforce committee, Conversation Cafes and Freedom to Speak Up events.
The successful candidate will have senior level financial management experience with a financial qualification and be committed to the promotion of excellent health care services.
They will also have life experience that will enable them to hold the executive to account by providing purposeful, constructive scrutiny and challenge, and independence and external perspectives to influence strategy.
Applications are particularly welcome from women, people from the local black and minority ethnic communities, and disabled people who we know are under-represented in chair and non-executive roles.
